Celia Ireland
Celia is well respected as both a performer and educator of the recorder. After studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Pamela Thorby, Robert Ehrlich and Gail Hennessy (which included a three month study period at the Utrecht School of Arts in The Netherlands), she graduated with a First class degree in 2003 and has gone on to have a varied musical career. Her performing experience has included appearances at The Isle of Man Early Music Festival, Cheltenham Festival, Wigmore Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields and featured soloist in the 2005 Jenkins Requiem Tour.

She has a keen interest in contemporary music which has led to a number of pieces being written for and premiered by Celia. She premiered Donald Bousted's 'Two Responses to Silence' (for tenor recorder) in 1998 and has had a double concerto written for her by the same composer. Whilst at Guildhall, she was invited to record the Guildhall audition piece which she also premiered at the Wigmore Hall. David Murphy's LOL for recorder and percussion (dedicated to Celia) was premiered by her in June 2003.

Celia is the recorder teacher at Kingshott Preparatory School, Oundle School and for the Hertfordshire Music Service. Her teaching commitments see her developing the abilities of c.160 recorder students each week ranging from beginners to diploma and degree level students. Celia was a specialist adjudicator for the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in 2008 and is an external examiner for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
